Some events in the history
Montceau les Mines
is situated between Morvan and Charolais, forests and hills
with beautiful Romanesque churches.
Today it is both a captivating city with the typical architecture dating
from coalmining past
and a welcoming city with good-natured inhabitants.
In 1856 men came from the neighbourhoods to build the most recent town in
the département
( = “county ” ) of Saône
et Loire
( 71 ) and exploited coal there.
In Montceau enjoy the French way of life in the city center
well-decorated with flowers
- the lively streets with various trades, the big market twice a week, the
parks and the swimming pool .
